According to the California Science Center, nearly five Titanic ships could be built at a cost of $400 million each with the money that James Cameron's movie "Titanic" has made. As of December 2017, the latest box office receipts report that the movie has grossed more than $1.84 billion worldwide.
In 1911, the cost to build the Titanic was $7.5 million, including salaries for over 15,000 men who worked on the construction.
Adjusted for inflation, the cost would be around $179 million in the year 2015.
